Heartland United took all the points in this keenly contested match played out in the warm October sunshine. There was a welcome return for both Simon Williams and Matt Ward who lifts the team with his upbeat approach. Manager Gibbo looked pleased as he surveyed his squad – This was the first time in three weeks it contained a 12th man.
It was the Home team that started the brighter with Lighthouse forced on the back foot – it wasn’t long before the Heartlands pressure paid off with Dan Keeping coolly side footing the ball in from the edge of the six yard box.
Despite the bumpy pitch the Blues played some sharp football particularly down the left with Kelly & Jarvo linking up well. Lighthouse and their pace were always a danger on the break but Dunbar was immense in The Heartlands defence and the one time they were in trouble keeper Reece was there with a save that Gordon Banks would have been proud of.
Early on in the second half Keeping pounced on a defensive mix up to slot home his and Heartlands second. At this point the home side were well in charge and although a lack of concentration brought a Lighthouse reward a chance of an equaliser never materialised.
